Challenge
- The Trust's vision of a new 'filmless' hospital centred on their decision to deploy PACS
- To deploy PACS a 24x7 fully resilient network was required
Solution
- To design, configure and manage an entire network implementation
- Cisco Hardware selected
- Resilient infrastructure featuring a 1Gbps Gigabit Ethernet backbone and switched 100Mbs Fast Ethernet to the desktop
Benefits
- New network and PACS were delivered on time and to budget
- Clinical benefits have been enormous and the Calderdale Royal was one of the first hospitals in Europe to have dispensed with x-ray film
- The Trust was also nominated for the Healthcare IT Effectiveness Award by the Department of Health which it later won
